Power Soccer Tournament in Buffalo
On January 6, 2007, the Independence Foundation sponsored a 2 day soccer clinic at the Erie Community College North campus. Teams from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Edinboro came to socialize with other soccer players, play in a competitive sport and have a great day doing something exciting and fun! There were referees, coaches, statistics and many volunteers! Mighty Taco was the star player at lunch time! Thank you to Buffalo Wheelchair for the beverages and to Nancy and Patsy for the wonderful lunch! Thank you to Rural Metro Services for a volunteer medical crew.
This tournament was made possible in part with funds received from The Buffalo Bills Youth Foundation Grant, and from funds generously donated by Uncle Bob’s Self Storage.
For the first 2 hours the referees and coaches set up scrimmage games in order to figure out who would play in Division I and Division II. After lunch, and the referees and coaches determined exactly how the Round Robin tournament would proceed, and the Buffalo, NY Soccer tournament began.
Congratulations to the
CNY PS Flyers from Syracuse, NY for winning First Place in Division I

and to the Rochester Speed Demons from Rochester, NY for winning
First Place in Division II.
Trophies were awarded and will travel back with the teams to future tournaments, where new winning teams will be added, similar to the Stanley Cup!
Other awards were given to power soccer players for their outstanding soccer skills or attitude during the whole Tournament.
